Landscape Painting

Enjoy the beauty of Chester Springs as we explore and express the landscape in oil paint. In this class, learn visual skills to compose a strong composition to create space and mix colors. Sky, clouds and atmosphere and their effect on the landscape will be the core of the class. Drawing with the brush will be emphasized to develop brushwork techniques and skills. Demonstrations will be conducted in simplifying and blocking in the painting with bold brush strokes and color mixing.

Intro. to Wheel Throwing: Thursday Evenings

This 10-week course offers a comprehensive introduction to the art of wheel throwing. Students will learn the fundamentals of clay preparation, centering, and shaping basic forms like bowls and cylinders. As the course progresses, students will explore trimming, attaching handles, surface decoration techniques and glazing. With hands-on practice and one-on-one guidance, participants will refine their skills and complete personal projects. The final weeks focus on finishing touches and group critiques, providing students with a well-rounded foundation in the art of functional pottery. Suitable for beginners eager to explore the world of ceramics.

Make It Together: Art Time!

A creative workshop series for young artists and their grown-ups. Make art and memories together in this joyful, hands-on series designed for children and their caregivers. Each week, we’ll explore a new open-ended art activity that invites collaboration, experimentation, and connection. Through playful projects using painting, printmaking, clay, collage, and more, grownups and kids will create side-by-side—and sometimes hand-in-hand.
Workshops are designed to engage early learners while giving adults a chance to slow down and enjoy the creative process, too. Whether you're stamping, sculpting, or painting a shared masterpiece, each session is an opportunity to explore new materials in a warm, welcoming environment.
Best for ages 3–6 with a caregiver

Ceramic Yarn Bowl

Design and hand-build your own functional and decorative ceramic yarn bowl in this beginner-friendly workshop. Using slab-building techniques, you’ll construct a custom bowl designed to keep yarn neatly in place while you work.
Under the guidance of an instructor, you’ll learn how to roll and shape clay slabs, join seams, and form a sturdy base. Once assembled, you’ll add your personal touch through carved or sculpted details—turning your piece into a one-of-a-kind creation that’s as beautiful as it is useful.
Whether you’re a ceramic enthusiast or a fiber artist looking to craft your own studio companion, this hands-on session offers a fun introduction to clay construction and surface design. All materials and tools are provided.
Finished pieces will be fired and ready for pickup at a later date.

Trinket Shelf

Create a functional and decorative ceramic trinket shelf in this beginner-friendly handbuilding workshop. Participants will learn to roll, cut, and assemble clay slabs using simple templates to build a custom mini shelf perfect for displaying jewelry, keepsakes, or other small treasures.
With guidance from your instructor, you’ll practice essential clay techniques such as slip and scoring, smoothing seams, and adding texture or carved details to personalize your piece. Holes for hanging can be added for a finished, ready-to-display result.
All materials, tools, and firings are included. Finished pieces will be fired and available for pickup after the workshop.

Cyanotype Exploration

Discover the beauty of one of the oldest photographic printing processes in this hands-on cyanotype workshop!
In this immersive session, students will learn the history and techniques of cyanotype printing—an alternative photographic process that produces stunning, one-of-a-kind blue-toned images. Participants will explore how to prepare light-sensitive paper, arrange natural objects or digital negatives, and create their own original prints using sunlight or UV exposure.
No prior experience is necessary—this workshop is tailored for both beginners and those with creative experience. All materials are provided, and each participant will leave with several completed cyanotype artworks to take home. $5 materials fee
