Designed especially for homeschool students, this class places ceramics at the heart of the experience while incorporating complementary art techniques. Students will explore handbuilding, surface design, glazing, and sculptural forms, alongside drawing, printmaking, and mixed-media projects that support their clay work.

Projects are tailored to a mixed-age group, with skill levels thoughtfully differentiated. Calling all teens and tweens eager to enhance their artistic abilities! Join the Teen Drawing and Painting Class to sharpen both your eyes and hands while delving into a variety of drawing and painting techniques. Learn essential principles such as composition, values, shading, color mixing, and traditional methods using pencils, pastels, and acrylic paints. Be inspired by the natural world as we explore the grounds of Historic Yellow Springs and apply that inspiration to a major form of self-expression: clothing! Take what you have observed in our short walk through nature and apply it to your art in this beginner-friendly, one day printmaking/textile workshop. In this workshop, you will be guided in the techniques of block cutting and hand printing on a fabric of your choosing to make unique nature-inspired patches to adorn your jackets, jeans, bookbags, etc. Each participant will make and take home all of their unique fabric prints inspired by the flora and fauna of nature, as well as their single custom block that can be reprinted again and again!

We will explore the natural world and learn about native species, using these animals as inspiration for creativity. Whether they’re beginners or budding artists, our camp provides a fun and supportive environment for exploration, skill-building, and self-expression. With a blend of individual projects and group activities, each child will leave with a collection of their own animal-themed artwork and lasting memories of their creative journey!
