Mini Share Community Wood Fire
with Rich Holck
$125
This Mini Share Community Firing is designed to expand access to the wood-firing process by offering 18 participants a half-share each, making it a great option for those interested in learning more with a smaller investment of time, cost, and work.
Participants will be guided through the full hands-on process of loading, firing, unloading, cleaning, and maintaining the wood kiln. Instruction will cover building and managing the fire, reading kiln atmosphere to time stokes, and placing wood across the firebox to maintain even heat. You’ll also explore how oxygen levels shift throughout the firing and how to control them using dampers and air openings.
Additional topics include wood selection, stoking frequency, and the effects of introducing salt on pottery, kiln surfaces, and kiln furniture. During unloading, participants will observe and discuss how firing decisions come together to shape the final results.
Mini Share size: 12" × 24" × 15"
