Introduction to Tile Making

In this 5 week class we start with cutting, stamping, and basic tilemaking info. Then, using clay to make custom stamps to use for tile decoration. The flat surface of a tile is perfect for exploring surface techniques such as carving and attaching to achieve wonderful textures. As well as using slips for sgraffito, inlay, or resists to create beautiful designs. 

This class will be geared towards making individual display tiles, but information and technique on production tilemaking will also be available.

This workshop will begin with basics, and is beginner friendly, but everyone is welcome to sign up for this class.

This class is held in an ADA accessable studio space.

Spend five weeks learning about and exploring the different functions for your lidded forms. What works best–a flange on the pot, or on the lid? Consider vessel purpose and use case to help discover the right lid and fit for your specific piece. Glaze techniques will also be explored. Some throwing experience necessary.

Zentangle II: Tangle Time

Over four, two-hour classes you will build on the information learned in the Zentangle Basics class. Tangle Time expands your knowledge of “tangles” while exploring techniques that allow you to push your creativity to new heights. In each class you will expand your tangling techniques and add to your knowledge of tangles (patterns) Take your Zentangle journey ahead of basics to a level where you can create your own patterns in a fun and enjoyable way. Supplies: There will be a one-time supply fee of $12 payable to the instructor at time of first class if you do not have the basic Zentangle kit.

*It is recommended but not necessary that you take a basic Zentangle class first.
