Block Party: Printmaking with LEGOs

Bring a friend and tap into your playful side! In this out-of-the-box printmaking night, we’re using LEGOs and other building toys to stamp and layer bold, geometric prints. It’s tactile, experimental, and unexpectedly fun—a great way to unwind, get creative, and leave with one-of-a-kind artwork.
Part of our Creative Pairings series, this workshop pairs creativity with wine, snacks, and laughter in a welcoming studio environment.
Ages 21+ | Complementary wine, beer, and refreshments. Tuition is per person; all adults attending must register individually. No experience needed—just come ready to press and play. *Please let us know about any dietary needs at least a week before the event. We may not be able to accommodate requests shared after that time.

Paintings, Pumpkins and Poe

Let’s get inspired by the season of pumpkins and the haunting beauty of Edgar Allan Poe! In this workshop, we’ll explore the moody colors and atmospheric imagery of autumn using a variety of materials—watercolors, opaque watercolors, ink, and pencils. Participants will experiment with layering, texture, and expressive mark-making to capture both the whimsy and mystery of the season. By the end, you’ll create frame-worthy, Poe-inspired original paintings that celebrate the spirit of fall.

Plein Air Perspectives: Outdoor Painting for Teens

Learn to see, interpret and record your subject matter among the beautiful gardens and historicbuildings on the property of Historic Yellow Springs for this one day Pastel Painting workshop.
Learn the tools of editing your composition when painting “En Plein Air” (outside).Discover how to use “atmosphere perspective” to create depth in your work.A critique will be provided at the end of class.
All levels are welcome!
Easels and drawing boards will be provided.

Perfect for beginners or those curious about printmaking, this workshop offers a relaxed, accessible introduction to drypoint etching using traditional still life setups as inspiration. Participants will learn how to create expressive linework by etching directly into a printing plate, then inking and printing their composition by hand.

Working with Slips: Getting the Surface You Want

This is a one-day hands-on workshop where you can learn about the nature of slip decorating and how it can expand your decorating possibilities in ways you can’t imagine if you haven’t tried it! We will Lear about slip-its history, and how to make many colors of slip. You will have a chance to experiment with slip on your own pieces or test tiles we will provide. The results will be posted in the studio for anyone to study.If you want to expand your possibilities, working with the right slip for your firing conditions, this is an intriguing way to begin. The possibilities are endless.
