Intuitive Painting with Alcohol Inks
with Nina Yocom
Local artist Nina Yocom will guide students on how to intuitively create beautiful alcohol ink abstract works.
In this workshop students will begin by working on a blank 6" x 6" white ceramic tile focusing on the intuitive nature of inks and the fine balance between controlling them using a variety of tools and allowing the painting to process. We will apply inks to a number of different surfaces and learn to use tools such as paint brushes, foam brushes, and cool airflow to move the inks. We will also work with stencils, acrylic painters and fine liner pens to create mixed media pieces. All tools and materials are provided for a $35 fee payable to the instructor.

Through the personal artifacts left behind by those who served in America's wars, Kodosky reveals the stories of the people behind the uniforms. These objects preserve tales of heroism and sacrifice, triumph and loss, offering a tangible connection to the individuals who shaped our nation's history and helping bridge the gap between the front lines and the home front.

The Art of Play
with Hadley Wiktor
During this workshop, participants will work to deconstruct their current way of making and rethink their creative process. They will be introduced to a new approach centered around "play." I define play within the fine arts as letting go of the preciousness of what you think you want to make and allowing your intuition to guide the process instead. It is about being curious, asking better questions, embracing mistakes, and discovering what happens when you release expectations and give yourself permission to create freely.
Participants will bring their own freshly leather-hard vessels and a willingness to experiment as they explore this unique approach to making. Through demonstrations and hands-on exploration, they will alter, reconstruct, and respond intuitively to their forms, discovering new possibilities along the way.
This philosophy is the foundation of ceramic artist Hadley Wiktor's current body of work. By continually asking new questions and allowing herself the freedom to make mistakes, or even make "bad" work, she has developed a distinctive visual language that celebrates curiosity, experimentation, and the act of letting go.
