Spend five weeks learning about and exploring the different functions for your lidded forms. What works best–a flange on the pot, or on the lid? Consider vessel purpose and use case to help discover the right lid and fit for your specific piece. Glaze techniques will also be explored. Some throwing experience necessary.

This class is held in a ADA accessable studio space.

Zen-Blossoms: Floral Art on Canvas Pouch

In this workshop, participants will explore Zentangle Inspired Art (ZIA) while creating a beautiful floral design on a 8.3" × 4.7" canvas pencil pouch. The session will include some foundational Zentangle® strokes, simple floral like motifs, and ways to combine structured patterns with organic shapes. Using special Sakura Identi-Pen® for crisp, permanent line work, students build a layered composition that balances pattern, texture, and flow. Additionally, color will be introduced as one of the hallmarks of ZIA. Each participant leaves with a functional, unique hand-decorated pouch and a set of repeatable techniques they can use in future projects.

*Basic Zentangle skills are not necessary.

Over four, two-hour classes you will build on the information learned in the Zentangle Basics class. Tangle Time expands your knowledge of “tangles” while exploring techniques that allow you to push your creativity to new heights. In each class you will expand your tangling techniques and add to your knowledge of tangles (patterns) Take your Zentangle journey ahead of basics to a level where you can create your own patterns in a fun and enjoyable way. Supplies: There will be a one-time supply fee of $12 payable to the instructor at time of first class if you do not have the basic Zentangle kit.

*It is recommended but not necessary that you take a basic Zentangle class first.

Learn to paint with thread in this embroidery workshop. We'll use reference photos to create floral fiber art. We will start by discussing the possibilities of hand embroidery and look at examples of embroidery art, recent and historical as well as how embroidery can be a functional craft, fine art, or both!We will then make sketches of a chosen plant which we will then transfer to fabric. After a lunch break, we will begin stitching. We will explore how to embroider in a painterly way. Guidance will be provided throughout. 

Be prepared to leave with a "work in progress" that you can continue to work on at home. This is an intermediate class but welcomes beginners that already enjoy drawing at any level.

Shibori Dyeing for Beginners

In this beginner friendly workshop, you’ll learn the art of Shibori, a Japanese manual hand-dyeing technique which produces beautiful patterns in fabric in a range of blues using Indigo dye. Four different patterns will be taught - you’ll choose two techniques to prep your fabrics. Teens 14+ registered w/parents welcome

$35 materials fee covers one of the options listed below!

Students may choose to create:

  • One 8"x72" silk scarf and One 11"x60" scarf  OR
  • Two 18"x18" cotton pillow covers w/zippers OR
  • One large cotton tote bag w/pocket 19"x17"x9.5"

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll explore unique glaze effects and the dramatic transformation that occurs when red-hot pieces meet the elements. Perfect for makers who enjoy bold, one-of-a-kind results. Bring 6-10 bisque fired, average sized pots made of Raku clay or stoneware (low-fire clay will not survive the process).
