Open Studio is available exclusively to students (ages 16 and up) enrolled in a full-semester ceramics class. Students must register for Open Studio at the same location as their class to avoid transporting pottery between studios. Use this time to continue working on class projects. Tech support is offered during select Open Studio hours.

Join us for a fun, community-powered making day where participants will create handmade planters.  Throw on the wheel or handbuild, all skill levels are welcome!  Clay will be provided.  

Feel free to bring a snack to share and enjoy a day filled with creativity, connections and clay. All planters will be sold at our Pottery Sale during the Herb Sale, with proceeds directly supporting our ceramics programming.

Two 5-Week Sessions

Curious about learning to throw but not ready to commit to a full session? This five-week sampler is the perfect way to get a feel for working on the pottery wheel. Designed for beginners, the course introduces the essentials of wheel throwing — from preparing clay and centering to shaping simple forms like bowls and cylinders.

With hands-on instruction and plenty of guided practice, you’ll gain confidence at the wheel while creating a few finished pieces of your own. This short-format class offers a relaxed, low-pressure way to explore ceramics and decide if you’d like to take your skills further in a full 10-week course.

All materials, glazes, and firings are included.

A creative workshop series for young artists and their grown-ups. Make art and memories together in this joyful, hands-on series designed for children and their caregivers. Each week, we’ll explore a new open-ended art activity that invites collaboration, experimentation, and connection. Through playful projects using painting, printmaking, clay, collage, and more, grownups and kids will create side-by-side—and sometimes hand-in-hand.

Workshops are designed to engage early learners while giving adults a chance to slow down and enjoy the creative process, too. Whether you're stamping, sculpting, or painting a shared masterpiece, each session is an opportunity to explore new materials in a warm, welcoming environment.

Best for ages 3–6 with a caregiver

Create a personalized ceramic house number plaque that’s both functional and beautiful. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll use slab-building techniques to design and construct a custom address plaque, incorporating natural textures from leaves, flowers, and stems pressed directly into the clay.

Participants will choose their plaque’s shape, layout, and number style, then add surface details that reflect their own aesthetic. With step-by-step guidance, you’ll learn how to cut, shape, and attach your design elements while exploring texture and composition.

All tools and materials are provided. Finished plaques will be fired and ready for pickup at a later date.

Design and hand-build your own functional and decorative ceramic yarn bowl in this beginner-friendly workshop. Using slab-building techniques, you’ll construct a custom bowl designed to keep yarn neatly in place while you work.

Under the guidance of an instructor, you’ll learn how to roll and shape clay slabs, join seams, and form a sturdy base. Once assembled, you’ll add your personal touch through carved or sculpted details—turning your piece into a one-of-a-kind creation that’s as beautiful as it is useful.

Whether you’re a ceramic enthusiast or a fiber artist looking to craft your own studio companion, this hands-on session offers a fun introduction to clay construction and surface design. All materials and tools are provided.

Finished pieces will be fired and ready for pickup at a later date.

Bring a touch of handmade charm to your garden with a ceramic bird feeder crafted by you! In this beginner-friendly workshop, participants will learn slab-building techniques to construct a functional and decorative feeder that birds will love.

You’ll roll and shape clay into a teardrop form, add texture using stamps or natural materials, and attach end caps and hanging holes to complete your design. Along the way, you’ll explore surface decoration and handbuilding basics while creating a piece that’s both artistic and useful.
