This class presents the opportunity to draw, paint or sculpt from the human figure without formal instruction. Students may pre-register for a 5 or 10-week class card. Cards are good for one year from date of purchase. They may be used during any semester until the expiration date. $243.00 member price for 10 weeks. Drop-ins are welcome at $27 member and $30 non-member per class and must pay the monitor at the beginning of each class.

Slab Luminaire

Illusion of Light

In this workshop, we will explore how to create the illusion of light and depth using gouache paint. We’ll begin with a fundamental lesson on gouache techniques, including opacity control, blending, and layering. Using a carefully selected photo reference, we will apply these concepts to create a dynamic and luminous painting. Botanical Cyanotypes

Learn one of the earliest photographic processes called the cyanotype. Cyan = blue and type = print - a blueprint! Also known as sun printing, this class will introduce you to the basics of this historic process on paper. In the 3-hour class you will learn a brief history of the process, why plants are so often used in the creation of the cyanotype, how to expose, develop and dry your prints as well as how best to frame and store them. Everyone will have the chance to create 5-10 original cyanotypes. All materials are included. Materials fee of $40.
