Sculpting the Unexpected
with Bradford Davis

This 10-week intermediate to advanced ceramics course explores innovative approaches to wheel-thrown and altered forms, as well as handbuilding from thrown elements. Students will refine their technical skills while experimenting with cutting, reassembling, and reshaping thrown pieces. Surface decoration techniques, including newsprint transfers, resists, stencils, and screen printing with underglaze, will also be covered. This course is ideal for those looking to push their creative boundaries. Students must be comfortable with both throwing and handbuilding techniques.
This class is scheduled to be held in CCS, which is only accessable by stairs.

Lidded Vessel Concentration

Our advanced level throwing themed class this session will focus on lids. Traverse new and familiar ways of creating lids of all sizes and styles. See how the slightest curve can change the attitude and flow of the piece. Have fun exploring the change a piece of pottery can go through when a finial or strapped handle is applied.

Beginning Drawing

Draw what you see by learning to see what you draw. Learn visual techniques that make drawing rewarding and fun. Discover ways to draw by establishing the underling structure from a variety of still life objects. Focus on drawing a new, uncluttered still life each week using graphite, charcoal, or the drawing material of your choice.
